FitMonkey Container Conversion

This project involved the conversion of an old shipping container into a fully fitted sports shop. Sketchworks did both the design as well as the physical shop fitting. 

With a tight budget, a small footprint and a need for a temporary space, a discarded shipping container served as a the starting point for this project. The floating roof above the container ensures that the container remains cool in the hot durban climate. a set of stacking doors opens up the store to the deck and the grassed area beyond.

The interior is clad in scandanavian Birch plywood which serves as both insulation as well an interior cladding with a rich woody tone, complementing the sporting goods displayed.
